PASMI (Polish Association of Self Medication Industry) is an organisation associating Polish and foreign pharmaceutical companies producing non-prescription drugs ( over the counter – OTC), and medical devices, food supplements and cosmetics.
Currently, 19 member companies are associated with 80% share in the OTC market. The Association was registered on 9th November 2006 based on the previous association operating under the same name – PASMI.
The goal of the Association is an active support of the state’s health policy via cooperation with the public administration authorities and institutions, both central and local, and promoting a responsible and aware use of drugs to improve the health condition of the Polish society.
The Association’s activities are focused on:
- propagating the highest standards of production and distribution of products classified as OTC
- educating within responsible use of OTC drugs as required in 3-5 days’ therapy
- recommending appropriate legal and system solutions for the development of a responsible use of OTC drugs as one of the elements of the public health protection system compliant with the guidelines of the World Health Organisation (WHO).
PASMI is a member of AESGP – Association of the European Self-Medication Industry, the European organisation representing producers of OTCs, food supplements and medical devices..
